NEVER PAINT WHAT YOU THINK YOU KNOW!!

BIG mistake. I took kitty back to the studio, last night, while Ron was watching some god-awful movie with monsters, creatures bursting out of people, explosions (in space? Really?) BIG, BIG mistake. Most all artist's, including me, sometimes slip into the bad habit of painting what we THINK we know and that's what I did last night. I was too lazy to get the reference photo and thought, "I don't need it. I'm just going to tweak it a bit." Wrong. Now I've totally screwed it up, but no worries...I'll fix it. Advice: When painting look and your reference, then look again and again...at every little detail, line, color, shape and shadow. DO NOT paint what you think you know! Because, I can guarantee...your will be wrong! Ron picked up on it.."Kitty's left eye...weird looking." As he put it.
